An upscale steak house signature presentation involves presenting their entrees on 500-degree platters and bringing the super-heated platters to the table with a distinctive sizzle. But they had a problem, fully-vitrified porcelain products are designed to perform at temperatures of up to 400 degrees. The steakhouse platters were failing after less than 10 uses. Blackwood worked closely with their porcelain factory to design a specially manufactured platter that would tolerate the exceptionally high temperatures and now the customer gets over 60 uses per platter. While improving the number of uses, Blackwood was also able to offer significant cost savings.
